Medicine, practised with heart
Dr. Hassan Amla qualified in medicine (MBChB) at Medunsa, the Medical University of South Africa (now Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University). His early career included service within South Africa's public health sector, where he built a broad foundation in general medicine while treating patients from all walks of life.
Today, Dr. Amla runs Amla Med, his private family practice at 473 Randles Road in Sydenham, Overport — a practice built around a simple idea: every patient deserves to be heard, examined properly, and treated with dignity, regardless of how busy the waiting room is.
"My motto for the entire human race — give to one and all."
That philosophy shapes how the practice runs day to day: same-week appointments, walk-ins accommodated where possible, and a WhatsApp line for patients who need a quick answer without a full consultation.
